You couldn't have picked a better time to start thinking about the application process.

Aptitude Testing

You can take the PSAT (Pre-Scholastic Aptitude Test) and/or the PLAN (the American College Readiness Test for 10th graders).  No study required: your scores are for your eyes only. These practice tests are meant to help evaluate what you may need to do to prepare for the standardized tests which most schools require for admission. 

Extracurricular Planning

We can discuss extra-curricular activities, summer experiences and community service opportunities that reflect the things that you enjoy and are meaningful to you in order to create a unique profile to present in your college application. 

Course Planning

We can discuss elective courses that may help you develop the skills needed to gain admission to and succeed in college, as well as to qualify for Advanced Placement Credit and demonstrate the type of commitment to learning that is valued by US schools. 

Early Visits

You can start to visit US colleges and universities.  Any time your family takes a trip to the US there’s likely to be a  school nearby.  You and your family can drop in for an information session and campus tours.  This is fun, exciting and will help you start to decide what appeals to you.

Grade 11 / CEGEP 1

Standardized Testing

You may need to take the SAT and/or ACT test. Taking these tests this year will enable you to determine whether you need to improve your performance and re-take the test in Grade 12.  If appropriate, there are numerous tutoring options we can discuss

You're probably well on your way.  But there's still a lot we can do to enhance your chances for admission.

Essay Writing

It's time for you to write the essay that will accompany, and serve as a critical component of, your admissions application.  We can discuss potential topics and ideas and review it together to make sure that it says what you want to say in a logical and coherent manner.

Standardized Testing

Take the ACT or SAT  for the first or last time. 

Application Review

We can review completed applications together to make sure they highlight your unique qualities and qualifications.

Interview Prep

You may be afforded an opportunity for an interview on campus, or with a local alumnus.   We can plan what you want to communicate, and engage in mock interviews to insure that the impression you leave is your very best.

Finalize Application List

We can discuss whether it is appropriate for you to narrow or expand the list of schools to which you are applying.
